The Backstory
The idea behind Suri & Ming crystalized years ago when – tired of mass produced, seasonal jewelry trends, and more than slightly alarmed at the high cost of custom-designed pieces – I began making informal jewelry that I, my family members, and friends would want to wear.
Fast forward several years, and I left a full-time career to care for a spouse with early-onset memory impairment. Grateful to be able to stay home and care for him there as long as possible, I sought a creative outlet to fill my rare moments of home-bound free time. A friend asked if I could repair some earrings for her, I picked up my tools, and with renewed focus, never looked back. As more friends and family began asking me to make jewelry, my Suri & Ming studio at long last came into being.

Today my studio remains small, but dedicated to the principle that jewelry should be fun, unique, and reasonably priced. The processes I use in working silver ensure each piece is unique to its owner. There are no molds, and with few exceptions, the stones I incorporate are natural – so each piece is special.
